#4 Purify With Deep Breathing 

By focusing your attention on your breath, you can dramatically affect your well-being. Breathing exercises have been practiced in the Far East for centuries as a way to purify and renew their body. It improves mental concentration, heals the body and enhances your spiritual well-being. It’s also been scientifically proven that it relieves stress and anxiety.

Each inhale brings life-giving oxygen into your body, which will carry nutrients to your cells and helps purify them. With each exhale, you eliminate toxic carbon dioxide from your blood. Most of us breathe very shallow and rapidly without realizing it. We only fill the upper portion of our lungs which causes a chronic, low-level state of stagnation with causes fatigue, poor concentration, headaches and grogginess.

You can practice deep breathing anytime, anywhere. Just stop wherever you are at and begin to focus on your breathing. Breathe in slowly through your nose. Feel your belly swell full of air. Try to hold for a couple of seconds. Exhale slowly through your mouth and feel your belly deflate. Do it several times until you feel relaxed and less stressed.

Some people find they like to meditate during this time to clear their mind and detoxify their thinking. Our thoughts have a profound effect on our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. When I get into deep depression due to my illness, it ends up making me feel even worse physically. Detoxifying our thinking is one of the most important tools we have for healing on every level. Simple things like journal writing, becoming aware of negative thinking, repeating positive self-affirmations, Bible reading, praying, all these things go a long way towards a better way of life.

Give yourself some quiet time everyday, do some deep breathing and visualize your best self. When we consciously create mental images of well-being, we support our body’s natural desire for health.
